A PUB in Newton-le-Willows has secured a spot as one of ‘traveller favourites’ on Trip Advisor.
The Victoria was in the top two of the seven bars and clubs in Newton-le-Willows, sorted by traveller favourites, according to the Trip Advisor website.
The pub on Wargrave Road received positive reviews from customers, with one visitor describing The Victoria as an ‘excellent place.’
Maria Muggridge, new licensee at the premises, said: “It feels fantastic; I’ve only been here four weeks, so I have to do baby steps and I can’t change things over night.
“I’d say it’s the friendly staff, the food served, the size of the garden, and the fact that we’re right at the heart of the community.
“I’m told it’s a community pub and is the pub to go to, which is great feedback for me over four weeks.”
Maria took over the position as pub licensee last month, as the 46-year-old believed it was “time for a career change”.
The licensee added: “I’ve been a regular here for two years and I knew that the licensee was going, and it was time for a career change, and I thought ‘I’m gonna give it a go.’
“It was a such a quick process and I’m loving every minute of it; it’s been a crazy month and we’ve made a lot of improvements.”
Victoria Inn was established in 1893 and has since been a space for locals and out-of-towners to enjoy refreshments, pub grubs, and quality time with friends and family.
The ‘family-oriented’ pub also has a sizeable beer garden, with an outdoor play area featured, and plenty of space for events and performances.
The Victoria is open seven days a week.
