THE FUNDRAISING page set up to support the family of a teenager who was recovered from Carr Mill Dam has reached thousands of pounds in a matter of days.

As previously reported, a huge search operation at Carr Mill Dam tragically led to the recovery of a body on Thursday, June 1.

It was later confirmed that the person recovered was 15-year-old Erin Madden, a pupil at Outwood Academy in Haydock.

Following the tragedy, rafts of tributes were posted online to the much-loved teenager while dozens of flowers were left at the scene of the Dam.

Outwood Academy has also shared a tribute to the "fantastic" student with an "amazing sense of humour", while a friend of Erin's family has set up a fundraiser in her honour.

Asking the community to help support Erin's family through this awful time, the fundraiser will go towards giving the 15-year-old the "send off she deserves".

"She had the rest of her life to look forward to she was a beautiful soul inside and out she be gone but never forgotten.

"Could we all try to raise enough money to help towards to cost of Erin's funeral to give her the best send off she deserves and also to help Kirsty and the children at this heartbreaking time."

Highlighting how the incident has affected those in the community, the fundraiser has reached more than £4,500 in the space of a few days.

It has also been accompanied by further tributes to Erin and messages of condolences to the Madden family.
