A  BEAUTY salon in Newton-le-Willows is celebrating one year on the high street today.

The House of Glam joined Newton High Street businesses in June last year, with the salon officially opening its doors to the public on June 5.

Lily Cooper took over the former Christopher Hairdressing premises with her nail and beauty business which she set up from home in 2019.

The beautician is now celebrating a year in the new salon.

Lily said: "It’s been really good and really busy. The high street has been crazy busy, and I think being on the high street has opened us up to more opportunities, even working with other businesses.

"When I was working at home there was none of that, so it’s nice to have a community feel.

"People have stuck with us and have been really supportive; we love it."

The beauty salon is also up for an award as it was nominated for Salon Team of the Year in the Salon Business Awards 2023.

The 25-year-old added: "It feels really good; you put in a lot of hard work and sometimes you can feel like you’re not getting anything so to hear that is really nice that other people notice what we do.

"It’s nice to feel that the salon is worth an award and even if we don’t win it doesn’t matter because it’s still an experience."

The team will head to London for the awards ceremony today.
