PLANS have been sent in to create electric vehicle charging stations on a fast food restaurant car park.

InstaVolt have submitted a planning application to St Helens Council for two charging stations at McDonald's, on Chalon Way West, on the edge of St Helens town centre.

A description of the proposals says: "InstaVolt are proposing to install two rapid electric vehicle charging stations within the car park of McDonalds.

"Three existing parking spaces will become EV charging bays, along with associated equipment.

"One of the two EV charging bays will be fully accessible, allowing for unrestricted access to one EV charger with 1.2m access on 4 sides of the parking bay."

The application form states works would include line painting, logos painted on allocated spaces for EV charging, cabling for connection to the Grid, and cabling between equipment.

There would be excavations for the foundations of the equipment and installation of the equipment with a repositioning of the existing kerb line.

A decision on the planning application is expected by June 29.
