A MAN has pleaded guilty to using a vulnerable man's bank card on numerous occasions in St Helens.

Wesley Powell, 22, of no fixed address, appeared for a plea hearing at Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday, May 18, after being charged with robbery and two counts of fraud.

The case relates to an incident on Tolver Street on Tuesday, April 18, where it is alleged that a wheelchair user in his 50s had his bank card, water payment card, and £46 in cash stolen from his property.

Card fraudulently used for multiple purchases

The court heard how the victim's card was used for a £14 purchase in Lidl and a £54 purchase in Asda.

On separate occasions, the card was also used to make fraudulent payments of £68, £48, £34, and £13 at a Bread & Wine off-licence.

Following his arrest, Powell pleaded guilty to two counts of fraud and dishonestly causing loss to another for financial gain, although he pleaded not guilty to the charge of robbery.

The 22-year-old also appeared in the dock with Cassandra Shaw, 36, of Charles Street, St Helens, and Chelsea Stanley, 27, of Silkstone Close, St Helens, who each pleaded not guilty to all three offences.

Following the not guilty pleas, a trial date was set for Monday, October 2.
