HUNDREDS of people paraded on St Helens town centre over the weekend as the town celebrated its history, heritage, culture, and future.
With the Liverpool City Region's 'Borough of Culture' title returning to St Helens this year, the 'One Amazing Day' event was organised as a key feature of the programme on Saturday, April 29.
Providing entertainment for people of all ages, the all-day event contained live music and dance performances, street performers, as well as arts and crafts stalls, workshops and displays.

Celebrating the past, present, and future of St Helens, a parade also made its way through the town centre, with a pedal-powered "Stephenson's Rocket" train leading dozens of community groups, kids clubs, and heritage associations from Victoria Square.
With further nods to the town’s industrial history, there was also a ‘Heritage Day’ at St Helens Book Stop and a free glass blowing demonstration at the World of Glass.
Despite the smatterings of rain throughout the day, the event was well attended by residents and families, and brought smiles to many faces present in the town centre.
With hundreds of other residents reacting to the Star's live report of the One Amazing Day’ event, it has been confirmed that there will be further events to mark the Borough of Culture celebrations such as the ‘Dream of Wonder Arts’ at the Dream, St Helens Pride, and Armed Forces Day.
