A MUM has shared how grateful she is after her son saved her life.
Kathryn Robinson, from Newton-le-Willow,s collapsed on Friday afternoon, April 21, with her 14-year-old son, Billy Ward, finding her unconscious.
Without hesitation, Billy put his mum in the recovery position, rang for an ambulance, and performed CPR.
Paramedics soon arrived and were astonished to see how Billy’s initiative had helped his mum.
Kathryn, 39, said: "He saved my life during the scariest moment of his life.
"The paramedics could not believe what he had done so quickly, so professionally, in such a hands-on way; they couldn't praise him enough and neither can I.
"His strength took over fear and true Billy style, there was no stopping him.
"Nothing will ever prepare you for anything like he had to do to his own mum that day.
"I'm so upset and gutted for what he's had to see and do at such a young age, but I’m completely grateful and impressed that he never gave up.
"The paramedics informed us that if Billy wasn't there to do what he did when he did, I wouldn't be either.
"My Billy, what a true little hero he is."
Kathryn, owner of Clinically Flawless in Earlestown, previously worked in the health and clinical sector for more than 15 years and had explained to Billy what to do in an emergency situation.
Years later, Billy remembered what his mum taught him, and he put his knowledge to the test as he saved his mum’s life.
Kathryn hopes Billy’s heroic act will encourage other parents to educate their children on how to perform CPR and what to do in an emergency situation.
She added: "It’s important to get it into your children, the importance of knowing the signs of when they might need to step in to help, regardless of how old they are."
Kathryn is currently in hospital awaiting for tests to identify the reason she collapsed.
