AN INTIMATE venue on Westfield Street has slowly been growing its stand-up night that gives the budding comedians of St Helens the perfect place to hone their craft.
Offering the community an alternative night out in the town centre, TANK Bar has gathered a popular reputation in St Helens over the past decade.
Battling through the pandemic and cost of living crisis, Tank has hosted a plethora of original bands and events at the small independent venue.

For the past year, this has included a live comedy night which gives comics from St Helens and afar the chance to hone their craft or test new material.
Hosted by local filmmaker Cameron Jones, who came up with the idea, the growing comedy night now dubbed 'Wool Comedy' sees five comedians taking to the stage for 10 to 15 minutes to try and make the crowd laugh.
Paul Whittaker, owner of Tank, said: "We started [the comedy nights] in February 2022 and we've had one a month since then, which have been very well received.
"We are hoping that when we get nicer weather, people can sit outside in an all-seated arrangement. We've had various comedians, from St Helens to across Europe and South Africa."
Taking part on the first Thursday of every month, the 'Wool Comedy' has room for seated and standing guests. The next event takes place on Thursday, April 6.
