A RESTAURANT just 20 minutes away from St Helens has newly received a Michelin Star in the 2023 guide.

Solo in Aughton features in the guide with four other Lancashire restaurants which have retained their Michelin Stars.

Solo serves modern British cuisine and the lunch menu is described by the guide as representing “good value”.

Here’s what the guide had to say about the restaurant.

The Michelin Guide says: “Having worked at various well-regarded restaurants around the country, Tim Allen brought plenty of experience to his first solo venture in this brightly decorated and warmly run converted pub.

“His contemporary, seasonally pertinent dishes come with some unique touches; he lets each flavour-packed core ingredient shine but also carefully considers the textures of each dish. The lunch menu represents good value.”

Solo is praised on Tripadvisor too with reviews highlighting both the food and service.

This Lancashire restaurant has a 5-star rating on the reviewing website with one reviewer recently writing: “This was our first visit and definitely won’t be our last.

“The food, in particular, the main and dessert were some of the best dishes I’ve had in a long time. The cheesecake was so good! The drinks were excellent and the staff were great.

“Solo is definitely worthy of a Michelin star which I’m sure it will receive before too long.”

Another said: “We visited Solo yesterday for the first time to try the Sunday lunch tasting menu after being given vouchers for Christmas.

“All four courses were absolutely beautifully presented and delicious, it was the best Sunday roast I think I've ever had, the beef was just gorgeous.

“To be welcomed by two roaring log burners on a grey and drizzly Sunday and have great service made the experience even better. Will definitely not be our last visit!”
