THERE has been four miles of traffic and a lane closure in place on the M6 following a crash involving three HGVs earlier today, Monday.

There were long delays with congestion up to junction 22 following an incident on the M6 northbound before junction 24 (Ashton-in-Makerfield).

Reovery work has taken place and lanes have now been reopened, according to National Highways.

As of around 3pm, live traffic tracker Inrix stated: "Queueing traffic due to earlier accident on M6 Northbound before J24 A58 Liverpool Road (Ashton In Makerfield).

"All lanes have been re-opened".
