PLANS to develop a sports club in Newton-le-Willows have begun.
Newton Sports Club on Crow Lane East has recently renovated its function room, marking the first phase of several developments at the site.
The 'makeover' has now offered more open space to host events in the function room.
Joanne Edge, the sports club's manager, detailed how "exciting projects are in the pipeline" as the club prepares to receive a transformation.
She said: "The function room makeover is phase one of our planned development at Newton Sports Club.
"The space is now brighter and more open than previously.
"Fully self-contained, our function room can accommodate as few as 30 up to 150 guests subject to the event, with a private bar and toilets.
"The room has amazing views over the cricket ground; it really is the perfect setting for all celebrations including weddings, presentation dinners, fundraising events, christenings, and life celebrations.
"We can if you wish, provide room dressing, balloons, and catering, and use of our sound system and lights at very reasonable rates.
"We have quite a few exciting projects in the pipeline over the next few months."
Newton Sports Club, established in 1858, is home to five sporting communities; cricket, tennis, rugby union, rugby league, and football.
Alongside its role as a sporting venue, it also offers space to host social events, with an outside beer garden, a private self–contained function room, and a Sports Club Lounge Bar.
