PLANS have been sent in seeking permission to use a property as a children's home.

Proposals have been sent to St Helens Council by applicant Neil Tabern, director of Nurture Support Services for a home on Prescot Road.

The application relates to a two-storey terraced house, and seeks permission for use as a children's home for one young person.

A correspondence from the applicant to council planners in the application documents on the local authrority website states that: "The house will run like any normal family home, the only difference being rather than the traditional parent and child structure, it will be care staff instead of parent(s).

It adds: "The house will contain one young person full time and will be staffed permanently by one member of staff, who will work on a 48-hour shift rota pattern.

"Staff handovers will occur during off-peak times to minimise any possible disruption to neighbours. Staff changeovers will be at 10am, every 48 hours.

"There will be a handover of one staff for a period of 15 minutes to ensure smooth transition of operational requirements. The house manager will also attend the home frequently, combining this home and another home as their management responsibility."

A determination deadline on the application has been set for May 10.
