RESIDENTS have just three days left to put in a request to have road closures in place for them to have a street party for King Charles IIIs coronation.

St Helens residents have until end of business on Friday, March 24 to apply to hold street parties over the weekend of May 6 to 8 to celebrate His Majesty King Charles III’s Coronation.

There will also be lots of opportunities for communities to come together over the course of the weekend through the Coronation Big Lunch.

Councillor Andy Bowden, Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport, added: "We want to do what we can to support communities that want to celebrate the coronation and you can get more information about how our highways team can support you to host your own street party safely wherever possible as we know so many have successfully hosted events like this previously.

"Please do make sure to get your application in before Friday, March 24 which is the deadline for entries."

The deadline for street party and road closure applications is Friday, March 24.

What do we know so far about the coronation? 

- The Coronation of The King and The Queen Consort will take place at Westminster Abbey on Saturday, May 6.

- The Service will be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury and will reflect the Monarch’s role today and look towards the future.

- Their Majesties will arrive at Westminster Abbey in procession from Buckingham Palace, known as ‘The King’s Procession’. 

- After the Service, Their Majesties will return to Buckingham Palace in a larger ceremonial procession, known as ‘The Coronation Procession’ where they will be joined by other Members of the Royal Family.

- The official ceremonial celebration will end with The King and The Queen Consort, accompanied by Members of the Royal Family, on the balcony.
