Abdul Rouf, co-owner of the burger and milkshake joint, confirmed with the Star that the blaze was caused by the chip fryer catching on fire.

He said: "This happened whilst we were working; everyone was tidying up and the chip fryer caught on fire. I didn’t know what went wrong.

"Within five minutes it got really bad. We called the fire brigade and from there we just had to leave.

"Three of our chip fryers are burnt down and walls damaged, and because the fire brigade had to use an extinguishing powder, the full restaurant inside out is destroyed.

"I’m devastated, but luckily everyone is safe."

The owners are now ensuring all safety measures are taken, with the premises closed until further notice.
