A GARDEN centre in Prescot teamed up with a youth community group to support its 'good turn act of kindness'.

Whitakers Garden Centre, based on Liverpool Road, collaborated with a local Brownies and Guides community group to assist the group with its generous act for this month.

The garden centre provided the young girls with pots and daffodil bulbs, which the group later donated to the community.

The group, with its members ranging from ages seven to 10, works together to explore the area and make a positive difference within the community.

With the donation from Whitakers, the Brownies and Guides left potted daffodil bulbs on Prescot residents' doorsteps, so they could discover them as a surprise gift in the morning.

Ian Lammond, Whitakers Garden Centre manager, said: "We’re really, really proud of our Brownies and Guides, what inspirational young people.

"We’ll always continue to support the local Prescot community where we can, both here and from our new site."

Whitakers Garden Centre undertakes several community and charity initiatives each year, from fundraising for its longstanding charity partner Willowbrook Hospice to donating seeds and flowers to local youth associations and mental health charities.

The company currently remains on its current site on Liverpool Road, with the new development on Manchester Road due to open in spring.
