SPEEDO Mick will be marching into St Helens tomorrow as part of his 1,000 mile "final stomp" from John O'Groats to Lands End.

Speedo Mick, whose real name is Michael Cullen, has become a cult hero over the past few years after walking almost every inch of the UK in his trusty Everton swimming trunks.

Raising more than £800,000 over the past eight years, his extraordinary challenges have included a swim across the English Channel, a walk from Liverpool to Lyon, and a 2,500-mile trek around the British Isles.

The 58-year-old stayed the night at the Eccleston Arms as part of his British Isles stomp in 2021, and the epic fundraiser will be back in town this week as he makes a 20-mile trek from Garstang to Eccleston, Chorley, today.

He will then walk through Rainford tomorrow, and will be staying at the Griffin Inn on Church Lane, Eccleston (St Helens) on Wednesday, February 15.

He will then walk on to Liverpool as part of a 1,000-mile walk that will also see him reaching the summit of the UK's three tallest mountains.

After struggling with depression, addiction, and homelessness earlier in his life, the money Mick raises goes toward The SpeedoMick Foundation, which is then distributed to grassroots charities that focus on mental health, homelessness, and disadvantaged young people.

Confirming he will be "hanging up his blue knickers" following this final stomp, the Liverpudlian hopes to reach a total of £1 million raised over the course of his fundraisers.

Filming a video before his walk this morning, Mick said: "I'm on my way to Eccleston this morning, it's still nippy out here. It's not as bad as it was but it's still cold.

"I've got 20 miles to walk today and I'm knackered. But I'm getting up and putting one foot in front of the other, one day at a time.

"We're trying to raise awareness for mental health, suicide prevention so please keep sharing the page. If you can't donate, just share the story to keep it going.

"Mental health is a very important issue, especially in this climate where we've had a cost of living crisis and a pandemic.

"It's okay to reach out, it's okay to talk, and that's what we're trying to do here."
