A CAFE is offering its space for families to take their children as teachers go on strike tomorrow.

The Riddling Rack in Newton-le-Willows is opening its upstairs space for the day for parents and carers to bring their children during the NEU strike.

Union members are set to go on strike tomorrow, Wednesday, February 1; the first of seven days of action planned, with 'only four to impact schools in St Helens'.

St Helens’ National Union of Education secretary has said upcoming teacher strikes are "for many a very upsetting but necessary action".

The bar and coffee shop on Newton High Street will be offering its space for free all day tomorrow to support families affected by the strike.

Alexandra Myhill, owner at the Riddling Rack, said: "Whilst we support the teachers strikes it has understandably caused a problem for people who need to ensure their children are taken care of.

"We are opening up our upstairs space so that parents and carers can come along with their children, bring some activities, and spend some time with friends."

Parents and carers have the option to bring their children's homework, crafts, and tablets with them.
