ST HELENS singer Jacqui Abbott has pulled out of the rest of her UK tour with Paul Heaton in order to help her voice to recover.

After Paul and Jacqui's latest album 'N.K. Pop' went to Number One in October, they began their highly-anticipated arena tour with singer-songwriter Billy Bragg last month.

However, after just three gigs on the 'N.K. Pop' tour, Jacqui pulled out of shows in Bridlington, Glasgow, and Stockton following medical advice.

Further medical investigation

It was hoped that Jacqui would rejoin the band on tour, and to give her the "best chance of recovering", she sat out of further shows in Portsmouth, Nottingham, and Birmingham this week.

However, following further medical investigation, the Sutton singer has pulled out of the remaining dates of the UK tour, meaning that St Helens fans will not be able to see her in Manchester this Saturday (December 10).

In an announcement on Twitter, Paul Heaton said that Jacqui has been advised to have a complete rest from singing in order to help her voice fully recover.

Paul thanked fans for all their messages of support for Jacqui, and said fans are able to claim for a refund if they preferred to have seen Jacqui perform live.

With England's quarter-final against France set to take place on Saturday evening, the band also confirmed they will show the game on the big screens at Manchester Arena, in a reordered gig schedule.

Alternative entertainment and Arena passes will be given to fans who are not interested in watching the football.
