A FESTIVE favourite is returning to Newton-le-Willows this December.

The Christmas Carol Singalong, annually held in Newton, is taking place again this year to spread Christmas cheer throughout the community.

Locals will be able to join in on the singalong at Mesnes Park, where St Helens Concert Band will be performing.

The festive event is organised by Newton and Earlestown Community Group and is free to attend.

Debbie Fackey, a member of NECG, said: "We host a carol concert every year in Mesnes park.

"It's always very popular with families who love to wrap up warm, wear the odd festive hat and belt out some well-known traditional carols.

"This year we have St Helens Concert band providing the live music and we are welcoming all to come along, join in with a good old-fashioned singalong, and enjoy a mince pie.
