THE owners of a shake shop in Newton-le-Willows are expanding the business.

Claire Maguire and Chris Jackson, owners of Shakey J’s on Newton High Street, have announced that they are taking over the former ChouxChouxbedoo café as they hope to branch out.

The current site will remain open as a takeaway only section, however, the new premises, named Shakey J’s Family Dining, will be a family-friendly restaurant filled with games for youngsters to enjoy.

Discussing the inspiration for the restaurant, 35-year-old Chris said: "I’ve always liked the idea of somewhere a bit bigger, but we’ve got it down to a T what we’re doing now and we’re doing well, so we’ve come to that point where we’re ready for it.

"We’re really excited. Having been here six years, we’ve seen the kids grow up around here and their families, but when we deliver to those people it’s only a 10 second exchange, so now it will be nice to see people come in and enjoy the food.

"It will make the whole experience of going out for a meal with young kids a lot more enjoyable for the kids."

The new restaurant will see a mix of a sweet and savoury menu filled with Shakey J’s signature treats and mouth-watering dishes.

An arcade and tabletop games will also be set up at the new premises.

Claire, 37 and a mum-of-four, added: "It is really exciting for us as a family. We’ve wanted to expand for a long a time with an emphasis on family friendly dining; we know how difficult it can be to eat out with kids in town.

"So we have tried to redesign the shop the best we can to accommodate families of all ages. It’s really important to us that everybody feels welcome; we want your Grandma to feel as comfortable as your toddler."

Shakey J’s has been on the high street since 2016 and has become a much-loved takeaway as it's named the number one delivery service on Just Eat in the area.

The couple also hope to open the restuarant doors on December 4, during the high street’s Christmas markets, for people to take a look, however, an official opening date it yet confirmed.

The owners also emphasised that they will keep the charm of Chouxchouxbedoo as they "haven’t forgotten the customers" and will aim to source locally.
