THERE were large crowds in Earlestown as a ceremony of remembrance took place on Sunday.

A march took place before the service was centered around the area's war memorial.

Once again, in keeping with previous years, there was a strong turnout.

Councillor Seve Gomez-Aspron MBE, said: "As part of the group who organises our Parade in Newton-le-Willows, the turnout grows every year, and it’s heartwarming.

"A massive thank you goes to Lt Unsworth and Newton Sea Cadets, Roy Heppenstall, Phil Bryant, Chris Scarisbrick and Rev. Tim for helping to organise and to Merseyside Police and their Newton-le-Willows team for their support.

"Also thanks to Alan Chick DL, Deputy Mayor Lynn Clarke, Conor McGinn MP, Lord Watts and all those who have up their time on Sunday to Remember.

"It’s always an emotional and stirring event, but one we should never devalue or lessen because of what it pays tribute to. Lest we forget."

Pictures below show some of the faces that made it a special occasion.
