A BUSINESS is saying goodbye to its customers in Newton-le-Willows as it closes its doors.

Owners of The Deli at 40A, an independent delicatessen in Earlestown, announced on social media that the business will be closing due to 'personal reasons.'

The statement read: "It’s with great sadness that we are unable to carry on opening The Deli at 40a due to personal reasons.

"We would like to thank all our customers from the bottom of our hearts for all your support over the last three years."

Heartbroken residents and regular customers of the family-run deli shared their sadness towards the announcement, with many "shocked" to hear the "sad news."

One commented: "So sorry to read this, I loved your shop, you gave us something to look forward to during lockdown with your cheese boxes – we will miss you."

Lynette and Paul Crean opened the Bridge Street deli in 2019 to "bring something different to St Helens" and quickly became an Earlestown favourite.

They were also praised for their efforts in the community during the pandemic as they provided cheese boxes to locals during lockdown.

The business also received a £5000 grant from St Helens Council to carry on serving Earlestown, however, the owners have now decided to call it a day.
