A COMMUNITY centre in Newton-le-Willows has set an eco-photography challenge.

Crownway Community Centre on Crown Street, Earlestown, Created the challenge to encourage locals to test their photography skills whilst spending time with nature and noticing renewable energy sources.

The Eco-Autumn Photo Challenge will run from now until October 31, with the winner announced in November.

A special prize, donated by Lyme and Wood Country Park, will be awarded to the winner for best photo in the eco-category.

The first-place prize will also be the winning photo displayed in the centre, along with a free drink and cake from the café.

Lydia O'Neill, project worker at the centre, said: "Our eco-autumn challenge is encouraging the community to get out of the house into nature this autumn and take some beautiful photos of what is around you.

"We have included a special category to encourage people to look for and take pictures of renewable energy sources to show them that they are magnificent things that our saving our planet, not eye-sores.

"We are doing it to raise awareness about being environmentally friendly and how beautiful our world is.

"We want to encourage people to do their part for saving our planet."

Ideas for participants to look out for include wildflowers, pumpkin patch, and hedgehogs.
