SAINTS Grand Final Winners Jonny Lomax and Mark Percival will not be named in Shaun Wane's 24-man England World Cup squad.

Both players ended the Super League season with injury concerns and said after Saturday's win at Old Trafford that they would have to be assessed by the club's medical team.

Lomax, who won the Harry Sunderland Award as the game's outstanding player, has played the season since April with a ruptured bicep.

It is an injury that he suggested after the Grand Final that he had hidden the full extent of.

Centre Percival missed three months from mid-May after a debilitating knee injury caused by bone fluid.

The classy three-quarter was hoping to add to his World Cup appearances having only played in one group game in 2017 in Australia.

Percival tweeted tonight: "Devastated and frustrated! I did everything I could to get back for England, but yesterday's scans showed further set backs leaving me with no option. Wishing the lads the best."

Herbie Farnworth and Kallum Watkins will be included in the 24-man squad.

Wane will announce his full 24-man England squad tomorrow.

There will be plenty of Saints interest with players like Jack Welsby, Tommy Makinson, Matty Lees, Morgan Knowles and Joe Batchelor seeking a spot.
