WHO needs a good, strong cup of coffee to start the day?

With around 95 million cups of coffee drunk in the UK every day, it's clearly a firm favourite!

Today, Saturday, October 1 is international coffee - a whole day dedicated to the drink that is guaranteed to kick start your morning.

On average, people drink two cups of coffee a day with 80 per cent of UK households buying instant coffee to enjoy at home.

But what about going out for coffee?

Around 80 per cent of coffee shop goers visit their favourite venue at least once a week.

Earlier this year, in our Best of 2022 competition, we searched for St Helens' best cafe or coffee shop and Two Brothers Coffee took the crown.

Serving "the perfect sized coffee" with the "friendliest staff", it's easy to see why the town's two venues - inside The Book Stop's Here and on Ormskirk Stree - are so popular with customers.

Why not celebrate International Coffee Day and visit Two Brothers Coffee for a strong cup of coffee and a tasty treat?

Or maybe you'd like to call in for a cup of coffee at one of the town's seven other shortlisted cafes and coffee shops?

Here are our eight best cafes and coffee shops as chosen by you:

The Courtyard, City Road, St Helens
