HIGH Street Hive has announced it will postpone its Oktoberfest event until next weekend.
The committee in Newton-le-Willows had been preparing to host the German Beer Festival on the high street this weekend, however, due to The Queen’s passing, the Hive has decided to postpone the celebratory event until Saturday September 24.
In an announcement shared on social media, the committee said: "Following the sad news of Her Majesty the Queen's death on Thursday, the Hive have made the decision to postpone our Oktoberfest event until the following Saturday 24th September."
The event next Saturday will take place from 12-7pm and will see food, beer, and music on site as the latest series of events organised by the High Street Hive.
The committee, formerly known as the Hub, is made up of independent businesses on or near the high street who share a similar goal to bring the community together.
The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations held on the high street in June was one of the hive’s successful events.
