SAINTS will face Salford Red Devils in next Saturday's sudden death Super League semi final at TWS (1pm) with a place at Old Trafford at stake.

Salford, who finished sixth, routed third-placed Huddersfield Giants 28-0 at the John Smith's Stadium.

The elimination tie was given the go-ahead only 24 hours earlier following the death of the Queen and, after both teams and the 5,000 crowd paid their respects.

The Red Devils got out of the blocks quickly - racing into a 16-0 lead inside the first quarter and that left Giants no way back.

Salford stand-off Brodie Croft went off with a head knock just before half-time and did not return - and under the 11-day HIA protocol that looks certain to rule the former Melbourne and Brisbane playmaker out of the semi-final.

Salford will remain dangerous for Saints having finished the regular season on a high, winning seven of their last nine matches including a 44-12 thrashing of Saints in July.

Wigan will host Leeds in the first semi-final on Friday night.

The final takes place at Old Trafford on Saturday, 24 September.
