A MAN has been arrested following a burglary in the early hours of the morning at a Winsford school.

Police were called to reports of a burglary at Willow Wood Primary School on Bradbury Road at around 3.40am on Friday, August 12.

The caller reported that an unknown person had broken into the school and stolen a number of items.

Officers were dispatched to the scene and following a search of the area, officers arrested a man in the Nun House Drive area.

A number of items were also recovered including iPads.

A 32-year-old local man was arrested by officers from Northwich Local Policing Unit on suspicion of burglary.

The suspect is currently being held in police custody and being questioned by an officer.

Detective Constable Lara Hill, of Northwich Beat Team, said: “Burglary is a serious offence and targeting a primary school is particularly low.

“While we have made an arrest in this case our enquiries remain ongoing, I would urge anyone with any information in relation to this incident to get in touch.”
