A BUSINESSWOMAN has been recognised for her success as a female entrepreneur.

Kate Hendry, from Newton-le-Willows, was awarded with a prestigious #WOW badge by businesswoman, Jacqueline Gold CBE.

Kate was selected by Jacqueline after she entered ‘Women on Wednesday’ – a competition launched by Jacqueline in 2011 to celebrate the growing number of UK female entrepreneurs and businesswomen.

Women on Wednesday (#WOW) takes place every week and is run through Jacqueline’s Twitter and Instagram page.

When selecting the winner, Jacqueline looks for a business that is interesting, that has strong brand values and that she thinks has the potential to grow and succeed in their industry.

She looks for quality products and services, well designed websites and entrepreneurs who demonstrate good business acumen and who have spotted a gap in the market that meets the consumer’s needs.

Kate said: "I began my journey into self-employment in 2019 after having my son, Finn. Although at the time I didn’t realise it would become a business.

"I started out looking for nature prints for my baby boy’s nursery, I couldn’t settle on a design I liked, so I decided to create some illustrations
myself… and I never stopped!

"In 2020 I was made redundant, and not wanting to miss my son's early
milestones, it seemed the logical, if slightly daunting, step to create my own business."

Kate added: "I create super detailed illustrations of many species of flora and fauna found in the UK; some take up to 20 hours to complete.

"They now feature on prints, cards, aprons, stationery, oven gloves and
loads more."

Jacqueline Gold added: “Finbo Illustrations was started by Kate; she creates beautiful art inspired by the British wildlife and wildflowers.

"All of Kate's products are made in the UK and are sustainable and they choose to use sustainable and plastic-free materials to ensure all

"Finbo products are as eco-friendly as possible. Kate will be a great addition to the WOW community.

"For me, #WOW is all about inspiring and celebrating female entrepreneurs.

"My vision is for women in the UK to come together, celebrate their strengths, skills and fantastic businesses, and do all that they can to inspire other women to realise their potential.

"The WOW community is a fantastic network which offers female  entrepreneurs the opportunity to share advice, support each other, trade and most importantly celebrate their successes!”
