JUST three days to go before a new food and drink festival is launched in Knutsford.

The gastronomic event on Saturday, August 13 celebrates the town’s hospitality and follows the success of last year’s inaugural al fresco dining weekends.

Taster sessions and masterclasses will be held in bars, restaurants, cafes and pubs.

A similar al fresco dining event in King Street on Saturday has been cancelled 'due to unforeseen circumstances'

A spokesman for Knutsford Town Council said: "A number of businesses which were to participate were unable to take part, some due to staffing.

"This then raised the costs which are shared by all the participants which meant that other businesses felt they couldn't participate."

Tickets are still available for a special Taste Knutsford tour which provides a chance to sample the town’s unique foodie scene.

Live music will fill the quaint streets local artists perform whilst people roam round sampling the various flavours on offer.

A speciality food and drink market will be held inside St John’s Church on Church Hill from 11am to 5pm.

Two dozen artisan traders will offer a wide variety of tasty treats including pies, cheeses, cakes and sweet treats, and drinks ranging from freshly ground coffee to gin, rum and cocktails.

An outdoor street food market will be on Silk Mill Street from 12 noon to 7pm.

A feast of dishes from all over the world will include pizza, Thai specialities, southern BBQ and curries.
