SAINTS are likely to go with the same spine that finished last Friday’s game when they travel to Wakefield Trinity on Sunday.

They will be without the injured full back Will Hopoate, plus the suspended Sione Mata’utia and Morgan Knowles.

They have options of Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook and Jake Wingfield for 13, but can recall James Bell from dual reg at Leigh for this week.

Ben Davies can slot back in at centre for Mata’utia.

Coach Kristian Woolf said: “Part of our recruitment process in terms of bringing in Joey Lussick, was knowing James Roby can play in the halves if needs be and Jack Welsby could float between six or one, Jonny Lomax can play six or seven and we knew Doddy could play wherever we needed him to play as well.

“That versatility and quality through those guys was always the way we were going to cover any injuries.

“We never planned to have two of those guys out at once, but that is how it has worked out.

“Whichever way we go I am confident we can make a good account of ourselves like we did on Friday night.”

Bell will likely get a shot after missing out recently and playing at Leigh last week.

“With Louie coming back in it was probably a hard call on James to not play the last couple of weeks, but James and Jake Wingfield offer similar sorts of things.

“Jake is a little more accustomed to playing front row and 13 whereas James Bell is more 13 and edge. They have both done well with their opportunities.

“James was able to go back and play well with Leigh – the reports back were that they were extremely happy with him. That puts him in good stead for an opportunity this week.”
