A COMMUNITY interest company who were assigned to the area to respond to anti-social behaviour has found young people with potential.

Kindred, based in the Liverpool City Region, supports businesses across the region that help groups within the community.

The organisation is in partnership with St Helens Council and have collaborated on their newly launched Nice Ideas Festival.

The scheme aims to boost activities within communities and help give organisations the recognition for their efforts to better the community.

Christine Spriggs, events organiser for Kindred, said: "We’re a social business that trades with businesses that have social responsibility and social good at the heart of what they do.

"We’ve been working in partnership with St Helens Council to develop the Nice Ideas Festival, and one of the things the council said to us was if we could go into Parr and have a look at what’s going there to see what we could to about the anti-social behaviour reported.

"As part of the festival, we went to Parr Sports and Community Centre and met some young people.

"Instead of us finding these naughty people that were impossible to control, we found a group of great young people with loads of potential, and we asked them what they would like to do and they wanted to do something adventurous."

As part of the Nice Ideas Festival, Kindred have teamed up with Lyme and Wood Country Park to offer young people from Parr Sports and Community Centre the opportunity to reach their potential whilst having fun.

A two-day camp has been set up for them at the country park next month, with outdoor activities organised.

Christine added: "It’s very exciting that we managed to do this in a very quick turnaround and all systems go.

"We’ve moved such a long way from being told by the council there’s a big problem in Parr, to the council being on our side and really excited about this partnership we’ve helped bring together."
