A WOMAN will abseil down Liverpool Anglican Cathedral this evening in honour of her dad who died suddenly.

On Saturday, July 9, Emily Moorcroft, from Rainford, will complete her first fundraiser for her dad David, who collapsed in his bathroom in December 2018.

After a sudden bleed to his brain, the much-loved 63-year-old was rushed to Whiston Hospital where he spent almost two weeks in a coma before passing away days before Christmas Day.

As David, a former team leader at QVC and steward at Everton Football Club, was waiting for a bed at Willowbrook Hospice, Emily is undertaking the challenge to raise money for the end-of-life local hospice.

Emily, a teaching assistant at Bleak Hill Primary School, said: "My dad was such a loving dad; a very confident and presentable person who was meticulous in his work.

"He was a massive Evertonian and lived by the club's motto: 'Nil Satis Nisi Optimum (Nothing But The Best Is Good Enough)' - and really showed that with how hard he worked for our family."

Despite the tragic passing of David, Emily said that she and the family have been comforted by the countless tributes from his friends, family, and old colleagues.

This support has continued as Emily planned her first fundraising event for Willowbrook Hospice, where her mum also volunteers three times a week.

Emily, 38, added: "I'm totally overwhelmed with the support I have received so far and the money that I've raised.

"This is my first time doing anything like this so it is a big thing for me, but I know my dad will be with me as I'm doing it.

"It's been lovely to hear all the tributes to my dad over the years, and we all miss him every day."
