A YOUNG girl's birthday wish came true last week as a balloon she released from her home in Fingerpost was picked up on a field in West Yorkshire.
On Friday, June 17, a couple of days after her fourth birthday, Lilah Hatton let go of her pink "number four" balloon in the hope that someone would pick it up and let her know how far away it had blown.
It was a birthday wish of Lilah's but she had received no responses from attempts on her previous birthdays.
However, Lilah was "made up" when she received a video on Sunday, June 19, from a man whose dog found her balloon.
As Lilah had left a handwritten note attached to the balloon with a number to contact the family, a man named Tom recorded a short video for the four-year-old.
He gave Lilah a quick tour of his surroundings and talked about how the balloon had ended up on his field in Meltham, 42 miles away from St Helens in a small town in West Yorkshire.
With Lilah being a huge animal lover, she is said to have loved the video as Tom showed her his dog, Ralph, and his horse, Zack.
Lilah's mum Jess said: "Lilah loves anything with an exciting background.
"Her favourite things are anything to do with animals [or] anything that she can let go of [as] she also loves kites and planes or anything in the sky.
"She's the happiest and funniest little girl in the world with the best personality, so her reaction [to the video] was priceless!
"She loved the fact that me and her daddy were also shocked - we couldn't believe it had landed in such a nice place and the guy replied with the most lovely video.
"Something so little put the biggest smile on Lilah's face - it was priceless."
