SAINTS head Coach Kristian Woolf is delighted to see Konrad Hurrell extend his stay at the club by another 12-months after the link-up this year has proved beneficial for both parties.

The Hurrellcane has made a huge impression in the red vee in 2022 – despite some initial scepticism in some quarters when he first joined after an out-of-sorts campaign at Leeds.

Woolf’s faith in the player, who he had previously coached at test level with Tonga, has been vindicated with the powerhouse getting back to the unplayable form that earned him Dream Team status in his first year in Super League.

Woolf said: “Koni is a great signing for us.

“He took a punt on joining us last season on a one-year deal to help his career, but we knew he would be a good signing for us as I know him as both a player and a person.

St Helens Star:

“I knew we had the environment here at Saints that would help him perform to his best and what we are seeing is Koni playing with a smile on his face, he is enjoying his footy and is a big influence on our group and he will only get better.

“He is a very popular member of the group with his personality and character.

"He has earnt the respect of the group with how hard he has worked and he has put himself in a position to play the way he is playing because of that hard work and the discipline he has shown.”
