A LARGE police presence has descended on Boundary Road this evening.

Large numbers of officers are carrying out extensive searches in the area, near to the junction with Campbell Street.

Officers say their presence relates to reports of "a concern for safety of a woman at a property on Boundary Road" that was made this afternoon.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "There is no cause for concern to the public while we deal with this incident."

Police teams have been scouring undergrowth at the front of homes, near to Wainwrights newsagents and opposite Boundary Road baths.

Sniffer dogs have also been seen on the road.

At least a dozen police vehicles have been stationed on the road, with three Matrix vans on Campbell Street.
