POWER cuts have hit homes in the Rainhill and Prescot area.
Scottish Power confirmed the problem was affecting communities.
The energy company said there had been “no advance warning of this and first became aware of it at 9.54pm”.
In a statement Scottish Power said an engineer will attend site to find and fix the fault as quickly
It added: “We expect your electricity supply to be restored by 01:00AM. The latest updates can be found on our website, www.spenergynetworks.co.uk.
"We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.”
