A LOCAL music artist with singles on Spotify performed at Newton-le-Willows high street’s jubilee celebrations on Saturday.

Ed Fisher, professionally known as Urbanparcs, began his career in the music industry during lockdown and has since released six solo singles.

The singer, from Newton-le-Willows, has performed in several locations across Merseyside, including The Cavern Club and Jimmy’s in Liverpool.

Ed said: “In lockdown, I just picked up music production and made some of my own tunes and worked on my own material. In terms of what I’m inspired by when it comes to writing the songs, it's everything from Rock, to RnB, to Soul.”

Following a successful start within the industry, Ed was offered to perform for a live audience at the High Street’s jubilee celebrations.

Alongside his music career, Ed works part-time at the Riddling Rack where he performed for the jubilee event.

The 18-year-old songwriter and producer also mentioned his collaboration with his friend Will Rhead as asianblonde, with the recent release of their debut single ‘Options’ reaching nearly 3,000 streams in its first month.

Discussing his chemistry with his duo musician, Ed said: “We met in sixth form and my third single featured Will and became my most successful streamwise.

“We sort of knew then when we wrote that song, we could do it really easily, so we were thinking maybe we should start something.”

The Newton singer studied at LIPA college and is planning to attend university in London with Will in September to develop his skills and experiences in music production.

Ed added: “London is full of so many musicians and there’s going to be so many opportunities to work with different people."

Ed announced he is planning to take a break from his solo career and focus primarily on his up-and-coming success with asianblonde.

He said: “I’ve taken a bit of a break from Urbanparcs and focusing on asianblonde because of the activity we’re getting on social media. The fanbase has started to grow- it’s looking really promising so I’ve been focusing on that.”

Ed is also set to perform at Rivfest in August before taking a hiatus from Urbanparcs.
