A PLATINUM Jubilee garden party is set to be held in St Helens this Saturday (June 4) thanks to the efforts of a charity.

Preparations for the Queen's Jubilee are well underway throughout the borough and the Standing Tall Foundation is no exception.

The organisation is planning an extravaganza day of fun to take place at their hub on Borough Road.

The charity relocated into the hub in 2021 and offers a range of support services and proactive programmes to veterans and disadvantaged community groups.

Andy Reid co-founder of the Standing Tall Foundation said: “Seventy years doing anything is remarkable, but to lead a nation as its Head of State, over a such a long period is nothing short of fantastic. Her Majesty is a great role model and example to all and we at the Foundation wish to celebrate the occasion in style.”

On Saturday, June 4, the STF will be hosting the ‘Platinum Jubilee Garden Party’ in the grounds of its base at the Living Well Building on Borough Road.

Andy added: “We have put together a day with something for everyone, children can enjoy face painting, an obstacle course bouncy castle and games, whilst adults will have access to licensed bar facilities and food, whilst being enjoying some music and the cadets displays.

"There is a Classic Car Show, Fire Brigade, Police, Freemasons and the Bikers Chapter, stalls and much more, even the Transport Museum will be there, providing rides on one of their vintage buses. I’ve been on it before and it’s great, its sure to be popular.”

The Afghanistan war veteran and local hero added: “This event is about the community and therefore my Foundation have made it a free admission day, so come along, enjoy the day, hopefully we’ll get some sunshine and you’ll be supporting a great charity at the same time.”

The Standing Tall Foundation has recently passed its second birthday and the impact it has had in such a short time is something its two founders, William Andrew Reid and John Francis Tabern, chairman of St Helens Town Deal Board, are very proud of.

John said: “This Jubilee event represents a further milestone in our development.

"Its scale and ambition have entailed a level of detailed planning and complexity, which given the size of our team, is a tribute to their tenacity and dedication to see it delivered.”
