JUBILEE plans are well underway, with businesses and organisations across Newton-le-Willows and Earlestown getting ready for the Royal celebrations.
For the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, family-friendly events and activities will be taking place over the festive weekend as well as the days following from it.
The Jubilee will see new events introduced, as well as the return of some of Newton's favourites.
Jubilee Scarecrow Competition: Thursday June 2 – Sunday June 5
This weekend sees the return of the much-loved Newton scarecrow competition, however this year, the well-received contest will follow the pattern of Jubilee-themed events.
Entries have already started for the competition, with well-dressed scarecrows visible across town.
The four-day event will be judged by St Helens' icon Johnny Vegas.
Newton High Street Jubilee Celebrations: Saturday June 4
Newton high street is decorated red, white, and blue with businesses across the high street coming together to host a Jubilee street party.
Stalls will fill the street, with the celebrations including live music, a food and drink festival, and Jubilee-themed games.
Some businesses have collaborated for the event, with Riddling Rack pitching a fizz stall at the Pied Bull car park.
A DKMS donor drive stall will also be set up on Cobden Street for members of the public to register as a donor.
Earlestown Market Fun Day: Friday June 3 – Saturday June 4
The weekly markets of Earlestown will see a Royal transformation with family-friendly activities including balloon modelling, face painting, and 'Royal' baby mascots on site.
The market will be open as usual, with activities free and suitable for all ages.
Newton Community Centre Vintage Garden Party: Saturday June 11
Newton Community Centre are also joining in on the Jubilee fun with their Vintage Garden Party.
The party will take place on the following Saturday 12pm-3pm with vintage games, craft stalls plus music and dance displays for members of the community to enjoy.
A best costume competition will also take place as attendees are encouraged to dress up in their favourite era.
