PLANS have been submitted seeking permission to divide a former supermarket into two retail units.

Proposals have been sent to the council’s planning department by London & Cambridge Investment Ltd for the former Jack’s on Four Acre Lane, Clock Face.

Plans seek permission to divide the unit at Four Acre Shopping Centre into two units.

A design and access statement, drawn up by agents D2 Planning, state: “The design of the shopfront is in keeping with other existing shopfronts in the shopping centre.

“The existing access and parking arrangements associated with the existing building will not be altered under the proposals”.

Plans add: “The proposed subdivision of the unit would bring back into use the vacant premises and add to the vitality and viability of the existing local centre and will be respectful of the character and appearance of its wider context.

“In summary, it is considered that the grant of planning permission is justified given the design approach that has been undertaken in the formulation of the scheme proposed.”

The application does not identify any proposed tenants of the potential two units.

Standard consultation is open to the public on the plans until Friday, June 10.

A determination deadline has been set for July 11.
