A NEWTON-LE-WILLOWS man has been charged with going equipped for theft after police detained a suspect.
Neighbourhood officers in Knowsley on Bewley Drive, Kirkby noticed a suspect who they say was standing in a phone box with a set of flip flops at close to midnight on Friday, May 20.
Officers stopped to check on the suspect, who reportedly ditched the flip flops and made off on foot.
Police allege that lock picking kit and plyers were discarded by the suspect.

A man was detained and arrested.
The suspect, from Newton-le-Willows, has been charged with going equipped for theft.
He has been bailed to appear in court.
