A MUM-OF-ONE has cut 21 inches off her hair for children with cancer.

Committing to a donation after her wedding, Faye Leach, from Blackbrook, grew her hair for more than four years after the pandemic postponed her wedding four times.

Originally planning to tie the knot with her partner of 15 years, Daniel Leach, in 2020, the couple finally wed in St Helens on Friday, April 29.

Raising money alongside her hair-growing project, Faye's long locks were finally chopped off by her auntie Sharon Weir today (Wednesday, May 18).

Her hair and money raised will now be directed to The Little Princess Trust, which provides real hair wigs to children affected by cancer.

The charity also funds "life-saving research" into childhood cancers to try and prevent any child from passing away with the disease.

Faye, who runs her own personalised gift business, said: "I always wanted to grow my hair out and donate it since I saw an advert for the Little Princess charity online.

"I wanted to grow it out to around 16 inches so it is a long enough to be a long wig, but it grew out to 21 inches as my wedding was postponed four times!"

So far, Faye has raised just over £300 for the Little Princess Trust and said she wanted to do anything she could to help children suffering from cancer.

Relieved that her haircut has finally taken a weight off her shoulders, Faye added: "After I saw the advert, I thought that as if it wasn't bad enough being young and having cancer, you then lose your hair too.

"I'm lucky that my hair does grow out so long, so I thought it's something nice I can do to help someone that little bit."
