SOME residents with WA10 postcodes have been hit by a power cut this morning.

Scottish Power is aware of the issue and aim to get the power turned back on in the area by 9.45am.

Information provided by Scottish Power says: “There is a power cut affecting the WA10 postcode area of St Helens.

“We had no advance warning of this and only became aware of it at 6.36am. Our next available engineer will attend site and the team will work to get your power back on as quickly and as safely as possible by 9:45am.

“Once they arrive, or when we receive any update regarding the cause, we will be able to provide you with more information.

“We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience. This message was updated at 6.40am on 13th May.”

  • Postcodes affected include: WA10 1EN, WA10 1EP, WA10 1ET, WA10 1EU, WA101 EX, WA10 1GF, WA10 1LS.

Residents and businesses will be affected, with Little Einstein's Nursery posting online that they will not be taking children in this morning until the issue is resolved.

In a social media post, the nursery staff said: “Good morning. Unfortunately we have opened nursery this morning and there is a power cut in the WA10 area so we have no electric.

“Please could we ask you to keep you children at home/sort out childcare for your children today.

“Scottish Power are aware and are working on it. Should the electric come back on we will call you to accept your children in today. Apologies for this but it is beyond our control. Thank you.”
