PLANS to convert a house and a flat into short-term accommodation have been drawn up.

Torus Housing has submitted proposals to St Helens Council seeking permission to change the use of the properties on Marsden Avenue, Old Eccleston.

A design and access statement in the plans, put together by agents McCall Architects, says: "This design and access statement has been prepared on behalf of our client (Torus Housing) to support a planning application for a conversion of the existing five-bed house and one-bed flat at 5-7 Marsden Ave, St Helens into short term accommodation.

"The new proposed scheme is for the refurbishment of the existing accommodation into six one-bed unit with communal facilities and a staff stayover room".

It adds: "There in no existing in curtilage parking at present, but this will be added to the rear as part of the proposed works. THree car parking spaces in curtilage with more spaces available on street with two small parking courts at either end of the road".

The application adds that "no external changes are required as all the proposed works will be internal".

Also, a staff sleepover space is to be created for use as required. Plans say they will be on site Monday to Fridays, from 8am until 10pm and on  Saturdays and Sundays from 9am to 5pm.

A determination deadline on plans has been set for Friday, July 1.
