RAINHILL'S difficult start to their Liverpool Competition Premier League campaign continued with a third consecutive defeat to leaders Wallasey.

The hosts were always struggling after Wallasey's openers Jamie Crawley (106) and Daniel Beaver (100no) compiled a huge first wicket stand of 196 before declaring on 229 for two. Ben Edmunson hit 59 in Rainhill's reply but they were bowled out for 162.

Newton le Willows came away from Formby with a fine victory after Afaq Ali Sartaj took six for 32 to restrict the hosts to 134 all out. The visitors were stuttering at 43 for four until Jack Morley (53no) and Siddiq Patel (38no) sealed a six wicket triumph. 

In Division One Rainford continued their good start to the season with a four wicket win at Sefton Park. John Dotters was the pick of the bowlers with six for 59 as the home side were dismissed for 138. Rainford made hard work of the target but made it three wins out of three off 37 overs.

The Division Two clash between Sutton and Hightown St Mary's saw Joseph Noctor hit 56 off 134 balls as the hosts were bowled out for 131. The visitors reached the modest total for the loss of six wickets.

In the Southport and District League Haydock could only make 121 all out against Merseyside Commonwealth Conference who won by seven wickets inside the 19th over.

Prescott and Odyssey won a low scoring game at Burrows Lane against Birkenhead St Mary's after opener Harry Rigg's 39 helped the hosts reach 91 all out. Kurt Sabela (4-9) and Dean Fairclough (3-21) combined to bowl the visitors out for 75.
