DETECTIVES have issued a CCTV image appeal after a "shocking assault" on a cricket club car park.

Detectives investigating an assault in Sutton this morning, Monday 9 May, have issued images of two men they wish to speak to as part of their inquiries.

At around 12.20am, officers received a report of a man with a head injury in the car park of Sutton Cricket Club on New Street.

Emergency services attended and found evidence of blood on the ground, but were unable to locate the injured man.

CCTV and witness enquiries by officers so far suggest that a man was assaulted by another man in the car park.

It was reported that the suspect made off on foot and the victim was taken away in a grey Volvo car.

Police say inquiries remain ongoing to locate the victim and the suspect, including checks of local hospitals, and detectives have issued CCTV images of two men who they wish to speak to.
