A FORMER Wetherspoons pub in St Helens is seeking a new leaseholder.

The Running Horses at Chalon Way shut last year after the pub chain chose not to renew the lease for the venue.

The company wanted to focus its efforts on its Glass House pub, also in the St Helens town centre.

The decision left one of the town's biggest venue's empty. The building is in a leisure complex next to Cineworld and Nando's.

As the Star has reported recently, the lease on former Westfield Street venue Bar Java is being advertised while The Lamb on Corporation Street is up for sale.

The former Punch Tarmey's on Westfield Street, meanwhile, will reopen after the owner, Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group, agreed to lease the premises.
