THE LOCAL community once again showed their support to St Helens' North West Museum of Road Transport last weekend.

People of all ages came to the museum's family fun day on Sunday, April 24, which had a host of activities as well as arts, crafts, and food stalls available.

Kids are said to have loved the sand art, face painting, and glitter tattoos activities.

Cheshire-based children's author Michael Bedard read stories from his latest book, 'The secret of Bluebell Wood', and stayed around to speak with families and sign copies of the book.

The illustrator, Carol Dooley, will also be present and copies of her work will be on sale.

The Spring Day's activities also included popular rides on open-top vintage buses, and the number of historic vehicles on show inside the museum.

Sheila Rigby, a volunteer at the Museum of Transport, said that kids are always "fascinated" by the model railways, vintage buses, and activities on offer.

More events are planned in the summer, which raises money to keep the museum running.
