RAM RAIDERS struck at a store overnight, escaping with cash from an ATM machine.

Forensic teams were at the scene of the McColl's shop on Peckers Hill Road, Sutton this morning (Wednesday, March 30).

Police have now issued a statement on the incident, believing that three males broke into the store at around 3am and stole money from the cash machine.

The suspects caused extensive damage to the shop front, and drove off in a black four door hatchback which was parked at the side of the shop.

Detective Inspector Barbara Hebden said: “We are in the early stages of the investigation and keen to speak to any witnesses who saw suspicious activity on Peckers Hill Road in the early hours of this morning, or if you were driving by and have captured dashcam footage please get in touch.

“Business burglaries are not a victimless crime – they have a huge impact on shop workers and the people that use their facilities in our communities.

"We are determined to find these offenders and ensure other businesses are not targeted in future.

"If you were on Pecker Hill Road near McColl’s and saw the incident or anyone driving off, let us know too, as your dashcam, CCTV or other information could be key.”
